In the last youth competition of the 79th Chelsea Community Fair, Rachel Rabideau of Dexter and Mason Trinkle of Chelsea were the top two finishers in the sweepstakes showmanship competition held Saturday night in the multipurpose building.
Rabideau, 15, was the senior showmanship winner in chickens and Trinkle, 15, was the winner of the senior showmanship in both pigs and sheep. For sweepstakes, he chose to show a pig.
For Rabideau, this is her third time showing at the Chelsea Community Fair, while Trinkle has been showing at fair for 11 years.
Also competing were: Emily Weaver, 15, the senior showmanship winner with an English horse while Emily Morris, 19, was the senior showmanship winner with a Western horse.
Savanna Burchett, 16, of Chelsea, was the second place senior showman in sheep and since Trinkle chose to show pigs, she was allowed to represent the species.
Katie Kuebler, 15, of Chelsea was the rabbit showman and Andrea Loucks, 18, was the senior goat showmanship winner.
Braden Steele, 16, of Chelsea was the senior steer showmanship winner.
Each participant showed each of the different species as well as a dairy cow. Each were asked the same questions about each type of livestock and were scored according to their knowledge and showmanship skills as each species shows in a different way.
