4 candidates file for 4 seats on the Chelsea City Council

(Publisher’s note: Mr. Catherman is president of the Chelsea Education Association, the CEA, which is the teacher’s union and I apologize for my mistake. This has been corrected.)

Four candidates have filed petitions to run for the four Chelsea City Council seats in the November election.

Current Council Member Melissa Johnson filed her paperwork for the mayoral seat.

Incumbent Council Member Cheri Albertson is running for re-election while city residents Rick Catherman and Tony Iannelli filed petitions for council as well.

Catherman is the Chelsea High School band director and president of the Chelsea Education Association.

Ianneli ran for office in 2015 and also applied for an open City Council position when former City Councilman Jim Myles moved out of state. That appointment was made to current Council Member Marcia White, who chose not to run for election.

In addition, Mayor Jason Lindauer chose not to run for re-election.

There is also the possibility of write-in candidates and that deadline is Friday, Oct. 27 at 4 p.m.
