The Beach Middle School 8th grade blue football team came up with a big win earlier in the week against the Dexter Dreadnaughts, 22-8.

Dexter took the opening kickoff in for a score on their first possession, but that was all the Dogs would allow the rest of the night.

Chelsea played an outstanding first half of football. Dylan Dollinger took a handoff and ran it in for Chelsea’s first score of the night. This was also the first touchdown of his career.

Griffen Murphy would complete the 2-point conversion to Cam Weatherwax to tie the score up 8-8.

The Dogs defense proved to be too much for the Dreads to handle. They played hard-nosed football all night long making huge stops the rest of the game, along with a huge interception by Murphy.

With under a minute to go in the first half, Tyler Valik would do what he does best, and take a sweep around the outside half the length of the field for a touchdown. This made the score 14-8 at the half.

The Dogs came out after halftime and lost an onside kick return. Showing no let down, the Dogs would come up once again with a striking blow to the Dexter offense as Evan Tompkins sacked the quarterback on a huge 4th down stop.

Tompkins and the Chelsea offence wasn’t quite finished just yet, as they put together a magnificent drive covering the length of the field to add 6 more points on a hard run by Tompkins. On the extra point attempt Murphy flipped the snap to Valik to give Chelsea 2 more.

With the ball in their hands at the end of the game, the Chelsea offence would take a knee headed into their own end zone.

The final score ended at Chelsea 22, Dexter 8.

The dogs head to Tecumseh next Tuesday to try and cap off a three-game winning streak.
