Seventy-five people, companies and organizations donated $7,947 in 16 days to make the annual Beach Middle School eight-grade student trip to Washington, D. C. affordable for every student who wants to go.
All this in 16 days through a Facebook fundraising group ‘It Only Takes 5,’ campaign begun by Sue Jacobs, a Chelsea CPA. This is the group’s third campaign to assist Chelsea community folks through random acts of kindness.
This year, the trip costs $775 per student, and not all families can afford this expense so there are scholarship applications from families who need some help with that cost.
Ten families have submitted applications and been approved, and now Beach is trying to raise $7,750, according to a previous story.
Beach Middle School Principal Nick Angel was reaching out for help and Jacobs took up the cause.
Jacobs says every dollar contributed to It Only Takes 5 goes toward whatever the current community need might be.
