A new field hockey league for girls is starting up in Chelsea, and it’s not too late to register.
New grants to the Chelsea Recreation Council from the Tigers Foundation and the Chelsea Community Foundation will spruce up several baseball fields at Chelsea High School and Beach Middle School this spring, including opening one for kids’ softball and baseball that was previously deemed unplayable.

A successful football season came to end Thursday for the Chelsea High School freshmen as they lost their season finale to league rival Saline, 39-14. Chelsea ends the year with a 7-2 record.
The Chelsea freshman football team suffered their first loss of the season on Thursday to an undefeated Ann Arbor Pioneer team, 21-3. The game was a defensive struggle all the way, due in part to the cold and wet weather conditions.

The Chelsea varsity high school Bulldogs football team tackled Tecumseh in a high-scoring offensive contest last week, eventually cruising to a 5-1 record with a 61-44 win.
It was a battle between the unbeaten last Thursday as the Chelsea freshmen football team hosted the Tecumseh Indians for a showdown at Jerry Niehaus Field. Inspired by the memory of last year’s game, which was won by Tecumseh with a 40 point spread, Chelsea came out on top with an impressive 21-8 win.
The Chelsea freshman football team still remain undefeated after their a lopsided victory over Ypsilanti Lincoln last Friday, 54-12. The young Bulldogs scored early and often against the Railsplitters, playing the entire second half under a running clock.
We knew it had to happen eventually: the Chelsea High School varsity Bulldogs football team suffered their first loss of the season Friday night at the hands of the Adrian Maples in what was ironically their first home game, 22-25.
