Cole Funeral Chapel is asking Chelsea to show its support for First Lt. Joel Christopher Gentz, a Chelsea High School alum killed in action in Afghanistan June 9. Read the extended obituary here.
“For community members who wish to show their support for the Gentz family, please consider lining the streets of Chelsea as we move Joel’s casket from the funeral home to the church on Thursday morning,” the funeral home said in a statement.
“At approximately 8:45 a.m. [on Thursday, June 24], we will leave Cole Funeral Chapel, go west on Middle Street to Main, go south on Main to Old US-12, then turn east on Old US-12 to St. Paul Church.
“Joel’s family will follow the hearse, and will have the chance to see those who come. So far, we have several Veterans Groups and Boy Scout troops that will be present.”
