Chelsea is a great place to live, work, and play.

This is highlighted every year at the Chelsea Spring Expo where people of all ages spend a fun day enjoying music, art, and learning a little bit more about our community.

On Saturday, April 16th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Chelsea Spring Expo celebrates 10 years of community engagement. Over 140 different vendors will have booths on display at the Washington Street Education Center including area businesses, crafters, non-profits, and school groups.

As the event organizer, the Chelsea Senior Center engages community partners and volunteers of all ages to make this family friendly event a huge success. The KidZone at the Expo is a partnership with SRSLY, a community coalition established to prevent destructive behavior in local youth.  Decked out in the SRSLY lime green color, the KidZone will have face painting, crafts, games, MakerSpace activities from the Chelsea District Library, seed planting from the Intergenerational Garden group, and special appearances from Cinderella (11 a.m.- 1 p.m.) and Goofus the Clown (11:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.).

According to Joan Driscoll, Chelsea Senior Center member and KidZone chairperson, “The Kidzone is my favorite part of the Expo. Every year, my daughter and granddaughter visit from out of state to participate in the festivities. It’s a blast for all of us.”

The Chelsea High School show choir, Company C, is back for a free performance at 1 p.m.  Last year, this group of talented high school students performed to a packed room, so be sure to arrive early for a seat.

Attracting local families, the annual Chelsea School District Art Extravaganza will open during the Expo, showcasing the creativity of students from kindergarten through 12th grades. Joining in the fun this year, the Chelsea House Orchestra will have student musicians strolling throughout the event and raising funds for their upcoming trip to Scotland.
