Ask the School Psychologist: What is the ‘You Matter’ campaign?

atsp-pix(Chelsea Update would like to thank Kristin Krarup-Joyce for the information in this story.)

The “You Matter” campaign started as an initiative in the counseling department at Chelsea High School to help students recognize that they all matter.

However, it has expanded to be a student-led celebration of art and community.

The English Department is helping each student explore why they matter. The Art Department is guiding students through the photography piece, from taking the picture, to editing, to printing. Once all of the photographs have been taken and printed, they will be displayed at the high school.

There are all sorts of other cool things springing up that are largely coming from the students. Acts of kindness, words of support (many are on the Why You Matter board in the commons.)

Every staff member at Chelsea High School wears a red You Matter T-shirt on Wednesdays to remind students of the theme.
