Aug. 14: Adult Learners Institute fall kickoff at Silver Maples of Chelsea

The Adult Learners Institute (ALI) of Chelsea will celebrate the beginning of its fall schedule of classes by conducting its annual kick-off event at Silver Maples on Tuesday, Aug. 14, at 10 a.m.

The event features the announcement of the course offerings for this fall, plus a preview of various classes by certain instructors, a drawing for two free course certificates, and some light refreshment.

This semester’s attractive menu includes ALI’s customary stimulating, scintillating, nourishing fare, ranging from colorful presentations on Africa, Egypt, Ecuador, and the Scandinavian islands to thoughtful examinations of Alzheimer’s disease and the opioid epidemic.

Classes meet once a week at sites throughout the Chelsea-Dexter area, generally for two hours, over a span of one to five weeks. Tuition fees remain $10-$30 depending on the number of class meetings, after a payment of a $10 registration fee.

This term, a person may attend free of charge, through the auspices of the Pam Radcliffe Memorial lecture series, special presentations (4) on “Lost Treasures of the Titanic”, made in conjunction with the Community Education program of the Chelsea public schools. The lectures will be offered in the evening at the Chelsea Senior Center, provided one has first registered for this series by calling (734) 433-2200 ext. 6042

Catalogs containing full schedules, fees, and registration material were mailed out in the last week of July and will be available at the kick-off, as well as at selected locales throughout Western Washtenaw County.

More information can be obtained by phone at 734-292-5540 or online at www.AdultLearnersInstitute.org.
