Lane Animal Hospital will help pet owners check their cat’s or dog’s microchip and information on Saturday, Aug. 15 from 8-11 a.m. during National ‘Check the Chip Day.”
Microchips greatly increase the chances that you’ll get your pet back if he or she is lost or stolen … but a microchip only works if its registration information is accurate, according to information about the event.
To remind pet owners to have their pet’s microchipped and to keep the registration information up-to-date, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) have joined to create “Check the Chip Day.”
The animal hospital is offering complimentary microchip scanning and if you would like to have your pet chipped, hospital staff will provide the service for the cost of the chip, which is $45.
All pet owners are invited to this event that will take place outside under a tent at the veterinary hospital at 701 North Main St.
