8th grade gold football
The 8th grade gold team lost to Tecumseh, 21-12 Tuesday night.

Highlighting the Bulldogs night was a 45 yard and a 35-yard completion from Joe Taylor to Jacob Schultz. Taylor also completed two touchdown passes to Tyler Wallgren from 15 yards out and 53 yards out.

To start the second half, AJ Tokarski ripped the ball away from a Tecumseh runner to create a turnover. Continuing on the defensive side of the ball, Jack Maloney had a big tackle for loss and Corbin Steele had a fumble recovery.

8th grade blue football
The 8th grade blue football team hosted the Saline Hornets Gold team Tuesday night in a very exciting game.

Saline started with the ball, scoring a long TD run on the first play of the game. Chelsea immediately answered back as Tyler Valik scored on a huge TD run on Chelsea’s first offensive play as well. The Bulldogs played strong, and competed all game showing no let down.

Griffen Murphy answered with a touchdown of his own behind a monster of an offensive line that’s second to none. Saline had a pretty good run game as well, but that didn’t stop Evan Tompkins from laying a semi-truck of a hit to stun the Hornets offense for the remaining of the 2nd quarter.

Tompkins’ big tackle fired the Bulldog defense up as the D-Line and linebackers quickly joined him in stopping the Hornets on a huge fourth down attempt.

At half time, Chelsea trailed Saline just 16-12. In the second half, Chelsea was plagued by turnovers. With three fumbles and a lost onside kick return, Valik’s second TD run of the night was just not enough as Chelsea fell, 36-18 to the Hornets.

The Bulldogs will look to rebound next week as they travel to Bedford to play the 8th grade white team. Kickoff is at 5:30 p.m.

7th grade blue football
The 7th grade blue football team took on the Saline Hornets Tuesday and jumped off to an 8-0 lead early with a Hunter Shaw pass to Cole Munson TD. Behind a great effort by the offensive line, led by center John Piatt, Shaw put the ball in the end zone for the 2 point conversion. That proved the only score for the Bulldogs as Saline put up the next 54 points for the win.

Other highlights for the Bulldogs included an interceptions by Colin Wacker and Ryan Martin. Martin also got off several great punts and kickoffs. Carson Gray was responsible for several hard runs and 2 defensive sacks. Nick Fisk, Gray, and Maguire each had kick-off returns that put the Dogs in great field position. Quarterback Jayden Woody put together three pass completions in a row in the his effort to bring the Bulldogs back.

Playing their first game of the season the Dogs were at a disadvantage, as Saline already had a game and win under their belts.

Next Tuesday, the 7th grade Blue team travels to Bedford to take on the Kicking Mules.
