Beach MS and JV wrestlers compete at Holt Invitational

On Saturday, both the Beach Middle School wrestling team and the Chelsea High School JV wrestling team attended the Holt wrestling invitational.

The Holt wrestling invitational is a neat event in which they host both a middle school and JV wrestling tournament at the same time. There are eight wrestling mats in their gym. The middle school use five of the mats and the JV use the other three mats.

This year, 22 middle school and 11 JV wrestlers from Chelsea competed at the tournament. “It was a great opportunity for both teams to support and cheer for each other,” said coach Gary Dosey.

The Beach wrestling team wrestled a season-high 100 matches collectively Saturday.

Leading the way for the Beach wrestlers by going undefeated and finishing in 1st place were:

  • Jonathan Aquilino
  • Cole Munson
  • Jack Maloney

Going 4-1 and finishing in 2nd place were:

  • Daniel Garza
  • Dalton Grabarczyk
  • AJ Tokarski
  • Luke Vella

3rd place finishers were:

  • John Putnam
  • Nolan Sinkwitts
  • Ty Wagner
  • Grayson Golding
  • Zach Breining
  • Brian Morgans
  • Aiden McGuire

Other wrestlers to win at least one match Saturday were Jonas Norwood, Zachary Byerly, Grayson Eckland, and Henry Lantis.

The Beach wrestlers host Bedford at the WSEC on Tuesday.

The Holt JV tournament was the final competition of the year for the JV wrestlers, and they wrestled 50 matches total.

1st Place finishers were:

  • Tyler Hochrein
  • Daniel Golding
  • Ethan Corkin-Howell
  • Noah Holton

Brandon deGracia finished in 2nd place, and Josiah Fitch finished in 3rd place.
