Beavers are back in southeast Michigan.

It’s been about 150 years since they have been seen in the Detroit Rivers. Their presence helped the Great Lakes region grow and were very important in Detroit’s early history. They are the architects of the animal world and help to reestablish important wetlands that provide homes for song birds and other species.

“There have been encouraging signs that the beavers and other species are enjoying resurgence in Michigan,” and the Fish and Wildlife Service is very pleased at their return.

Check out the photos of evidence that beavers were living in the Huron River in Dexter.

These photos were shot a week ago in Dexter and we hope that the beavers are back in our neighborhood.
