“We won a thrilling contest last Friday at our own Chelsea Relays, taking first out of a tough 9-team field,” said Coach Eric Swager.

The meet came down to the final event, which the Bulldogs won in dominating fashion, to edge both East Lansing and Linden for the title.

Several relays earned medals (1st or 2nd), including the Long Jump relay of Jeremy Policht, Graham Kuras, and Jacob Grubbs.

The 4×800 Relay (Liam Heaney, Miles Fischer, Brian Jacobs, Campbell Fahle) edged out a close victory, while the 4×200 relay (Ken McDowell, Bailey Edwards, Ty Nelson, Zach Skogheim) ran the 5th fastest 4×200 time in school history.  The aforementioned clinching 4×400 relay (Bailey Edwards, Lawrence Buckley, Chris Roush, Zach Skogheim) ran one of the fastest times in the state thus far.

Finally, the 4×3200 relay earned a 2nd place medal – although the team consists of 2 sophomores (Rayan Bahri, Liam Heaney) and 2 freshmen (Jeremy Northrop, Josh Kowalski).  “A very good performance from these youngsters,” the coach said.

Many others contributed with 3rd-6th place scoring finishes.

“We are coming along in many areas, and can hopefully be hitting on all cylinders as we approach the end of the season,” the coach said.

Swager also thanked all coaches, volunteers, and fans for their support as the Bulldogs hosted this meet.

“It is a big undertaking that takes a lot of people working together,” he said.
