Caution tape marks checked vehicles on roadways

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Joyce Williams for the information in this story.)

To put passing drivers’ minds to rest this winter, Huron Valley Ambulance and other public safety agencies will once again be using caution tape on vehicles that have been abandoned or slid off the road.

The caution tape indicates that the vehicle has already been checked and there is no emergency.

“We take the time to mark the vehicle because people often call 9-1-1 when they see a vehicle off the road,” said Roger Simpson, HVA vice president. “By marking the vehicle with caution tape, we are letting people know that we have already been to the scene and no one needs assistance.”
