Chelsea Area Fire Authority Board approves proposed 2018 budget

The 2018 Chelsea Area Fire Authority about $1.464 million budget proposed by Fire Chief Rob Arbini was unanimously approved at the Chelsea Area Fire Authority Board’s Nov. 21 meeting and will now go to Chelsea and the townships of Lima, Lyndon and Sylvan for comments.

Arbini also told the board about some changes he’d like to make to the employee handbook. The board decided it would make comments on Arbini’s proposed changes at its Dec. 19 meeting and then seek legal review.

In other action, the board approved an expenditure not to exceed $6,000 for IT/Server work.

Linda Reilly, Lyndon Township clerk and former CAFA board member, was approved by the board for the CAFA Alternative Member At-Large position.

CAFA Board member Tom Demske asked for more clarification of what board officers should be doing, and CAFA Chair Kurt Koseck said he’ll work with Demske on reviewing by-laws.

CAFA Board member Tom Osborne announced that firefighters will be ringing bells at the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle at Polly’s on Dec. 22.
