The Chelsea Board of Education will meet at North Creek Elementary School tonight at 6:30 p.m. during which Principal Marcus Kaemming is on the agenda to make a special presentation.

On the consent agenda are the approval of a new 6-8 grade math curriculum and an AP economics class field trip to the Chicago Board of Trade and the Willis Tower Skydeck on May 19.

Up for discussion are a request for an estimated $389,700 in technology updates that would be taken from the technology bond funds.

Included in the request are:

  • Staff laptops – $35,900
  • Desktop computers – $11,200
  • Staff ipads and cases – $20,200
  • Student ipads and cases – $310,000
  • Projectors and accessories – $4,600
  • Ipad carts – $7,250
  • Syncing equipment – $3,630
  • Printers – $500

In addition, there is a request for 40 Apple iPad Airs for Beach staff at a cost of about $19,200, which cannot be paid for through the technology bonds and would have to come out of the FFE (furniture, fixtures and equipment) fund purchases.

“Technology purchase for administrators and support staff cannot be taken out of the technology bond funds,” Scott Wooster, director of Technology Services, wrote in a memo to Superintendent Andy Ingall.
