The Chelsea Men’s Soccer team is currently 9-4 on the season with two early season losses coming in the Eaton Rapids Division 2 Showcase.

The other two losses have come from two of our largest rivals, Dexter and Tecumseh, each being 1 goal games.

Chelsea (4-2 in SEC White) is currently in third place behind both Tecumseh (6-0) and Dexter (4-2).

Chelsea 8, Ypsilanti 0
Of the 9 wins, Chelsea most recently won 8-0 last night (9/22) against the Ypsilanti Grizzlies. Senior defender Rayan Bahri led the team in scoring 5 times and assisting once.  Junior Midfielder, Joshua Kowalski had a great night as well scoring a brace (2 goals) and assisting three times in the game.

Senior Defender Zach Lee scored the game’s opening goal after subbing in at forward, receiving a through ball he was able to dribble past the onrushing GK and score on the wide open net.

Seniors Matt Klink (2) and Ben Kaemming (1) each added to the score sheet assisting teammates in this game also.

Chelsea 3, Monroe 0
The Bulldogs won on the road this past Tuesday (9/20) against the Monroe Trojans in an SEC crossover matchup with the final result standing at 3-0.

The day starting interestingly as our team had found out we were hit with a few cases of illness; some of the boys had to go home from school sick.  Short 6 players, we were down to one Varsity substitute and had to call up 3 of our sophomore JV players to help us fill in a few positions to help give us some depth on the bench for the game as we also had several others stuffed up with colds/congestion during the week.

The younger guys (Noah, Parker and Zach) came into the team and played great.  The team got off to a strong start early as Senior Matt Klink opened the scoring off an assist from fellow forward, Junior Cullen Lindsey.  It wasn’t much longer when the team drew a corner kick and Sophomore Jacob Smedshammer hit a terrific kick into the box to find Junior Joshua Kowalski’s head for the second goal of the game.

About ten minutes later, Senior defender Rayan Bahri, scored from about 30 yards out from a shot that knuckled past the keeper and snuck in just below the bar.  The scoring was deadlocked the entire second half and the early first half goals stood.

Senior Goalkeeper Matthew McDaniels held the shutout in net, his 19th between the pipes for Chelsea in his career.

Chelsea finishes their season with the following schedule:
