For the first time in many years the Chelsea boys basketball team has a victory over Dexter, and the contest was dominated by defense.

The Bulldogs received a huge spark with senior Justice Staton making a circus style shot to end the first half with a score of 17 to 14, cutting the Dexter lead to three.

The third quarter was much of the same with both sides leading the way with defense. The Dexter lead was increased to eight until late in the fourth quarter when the Bulldogs sparked some offense and went clutch from the line going six for six.

Another play by seniors Staton and Trevor Kingsley all but sealed the game for the dogs. Kingsley lead the scoring for the Dogs with 10 points followed by senior Ethan French with seven points and junior Ryan Mitchell with 6 points.

After the game coach Josh Tropea had this to say: “Players win games. My guys made plays. Seniors made it happen with huge plays in the fourth quarter. A new streak has started, the crowd rushed the court, Dogs are 8-1, and this just in…Chelsea Basketball is back.”
