Chelsea, Dexter volleyball donate to Cancer Center

Chelsea Update would like to thank Laura Blodgett for the photo and information. The Dexter High School volleyball team hosted the annual Dig Pink event during their face-off against the Chelsea High School Bulldogs. While competition remained high on the court, off the court the two rival communities joined forces to raise money in support of the fight against breast cancer. Many local businesses donated items for a silent auction held during the games in addition to a bake sale, T-shirt sales, raffles, and a photo booth. Proceeds from the night were donated to the St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Cancer Center, which received $1,000 as well as to the Side-Out Foundation. In volleyball, “side-out” means regaining control of the ball. Similarly, the Side-Out Foundation helps people with breast cancer regain control of their lives.
