The Chelsea District Library (CDL) Board met on Tuesday, Aug. 18, and held its annual budget hearing to discuss the proposed $1.795 million 2016 budget. With very little discussion on the budget, the hearing was closed, and it will be voted on at the next regularly scheduled CDL Board meeting on Sept. 15.

The proposed 2016 budget is $38,966 more than the 2015 budget of $1,757,135.

In other news, Lima Township at-large CDL Board member Gary Zenz won’t be seeking reappointment. Zenz’s term is over at the end of this year, so the CDL Board will be seeking a new candidate to serve on the board starting Jan. 1, 2016.

Susan Brown also won’t be seeking reappointment to the CDL Board for another term. In a letter to Chelsea Mayor Jason Lindauer, Brown said, “Thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve the residents of the City of Chelsea as their representative on the Library Board. I will be forever grateful.”
