What a perfect combination: learning about Michigan animals from a great story teller combined with creatures they could pet made for a room full of very excited kids.

The Chelsea District Library has amazing programs and one of the most successful “Terrific Tuesdays” is the “Made In Michigan” program. This is a unique program brought live goats, chickens, doves, geese into the library.

Story teller Sharon Bergman, made her stories exciting and informational, and the event was an adventure with her animated delivery.

The dedicated library staff called this program “warm and fuzzy, hands-on, safe and fun for all ages.”

Some kids can’t wait to pet the animals, some not so much so library staff organized an excellent system that allows for both. As the animals come through the crowd of kids, they gave a thumb’s up to touch one of them or a thumb’s down for the creature to pass them by.

It was a clever way to make this unique program something that everyone could enjoy.
