The Chelsea District Library (CDL) quarterly newsletter is getting a facelift.

Beginning with the 2017 spring edition, there will be a few changes including a new title “SOAR”, additional content highlighting collections, exhibits and more, and a new look to its cover.

“Typically we choose our cover image to reflect something that is going on within the library,” said Lori Coryell, library director.

“Public libraries continue to evolve in response to the communities they serve. Here at CDL, we wanted to encourage self-expression and shine a light on our local artists and photographers. This initiative highlights the library’s commitment to encouraging, collecting, and showcasing our community’s cultural output,” she said.

“You don’t have to be a professional artist or photographer,” says Patty Roberts, CDL Marketing Coordinator.

“Anyone can submit their work, including students, budding artists, or weekend photographers, as long as they reside or work in the library service area,” she says.

Currently, there is no required content for submissions; however, the time of publication should be taken into consideration when deciding on what image to submit.

The deadline for the CDL spring edition is Dec. 15.

Guidelines for submission can be found at http://chelseadistrictlibrary.org/newslettercover/. Any questions can be directed to Patty Roberts via email [email protected] or by phone (734) 475-8732  ext. 216.
