Students on the playground cheered “They’re here, they’re hear,” when the Chelsea Area Fire Authority fire engine arrived at North Creek Elementary School Monday afternoon.

The special visit honored lucky bucketfillers in grades K-2 whose names were drawn for this month’s special event, honoring students who were respectful, safe and responsible while in school.

When asked what they’d done to become bucketfillers, one said when his teacher his her elbow, “I asked if she was OK.”

Another student said he was quiet in the lunch room, “which is really hard.”

Another student said she hugged a friend who had gotten hurt and another student helped his teacher “when the iPad wires got tangled.”

All year, students at the elementary school have been demonstrating ways to be safe, responsible and respectful in the classroom in the lunchroom and in the halls, which earns them a slip of paper that’s put in a bucket.

Please enjoy the slideshow below of some of the students whose names were chosen to spent time with the firefighters on Monday afternoon.

They were able to explore the inside of a fire engine and ask questions, then play games in the gym with Fire Lt. Scott Bazar and firefighters Ian Ballard and Roger Chapman.
