Coaches Comments (Pat Clarke): “This was a good start for us. We ran without some of our top runners, but the other girls took up the slack and gave fine efforts. Junior Jesse Jacobusse led the way with a great race to place second with a fine time of 20:14. Sophomore Caroline Hirth and Junior Ellie Doman each ran a strong race to place 7th and 10th respectively. Finally freshmen Sydnee Liedel and Allison Hughes placed 9th and 11th with strong performances in their first varsity races to round out the scoring.
We showed a lot more speed this year than last year. We were happy to win on such a tough day to run. Our depth helped us out in the heat. We learned a lot about where we are and what we need to do. It was a good learning experience for the team as a whole. We will improve as the season progresses, and hopefully get to where we want to be,”Clarke said.
