Chelsea Girls Track and Field wins Stockbridge Invitational

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Loren Thorburn for the information in this story. There is a PDF at the end of the story with full results.)

The Chelsea Girls Track and Field team won the Stockbridge Invitational on a very windy and cool day.

The top three scoring teams out of the ten teams competing were Chelsea (164), Parma Western (111), and South Lyon East (108.5). Almost every Chelsea girl who competed either PRed, earned a medal, and/or scored points for the team.

“A very nice team performance heading into the SEC Final meet this coming week,” said coach Loren Thorburn.

The team’s dual meet record is 4-1, and the girls are currently tied with Dexter, also 4-1, for the league title. Whichever team wins the SEC final meet will win the league title.

“It should be an exciting championship meet and more than likely come down to one or two places in an event,” the coach said.

The meet is Friday, May 12 at Ypsilanti Community High School beginning at 11 a.m.
