On Friday, Jan. 20, Kathie Gourlay, coordinator of the 2016 Chelsea/Dexter CROP Hunger Walk, presented its Golden Sneaker Award to the Chelsea High School Interact Club.

The club won the award because they increased the amount of money it raised by the greatest percent compared to any other participating team. Last October, 12 students participated and raised a total of $757 for the Walk.

Cory Hale, the club’s largest fundraiser, is shown receiving the award.

About 150 people walked, raising more than $25,000, to help hungry and poor people around the world, with 25 percent of that money going to the local aid agency Faith in Action.
