Chelsea High School Theater Guild wins district MIFA competition

On Saturday, Jan. 24, the Chelsea High School Theater Guild competed in the MIFA One Act District competition at Novi Middle School.

Cast and crew are: Brianne Ackley, Grace Boote, Bri Bowden, Daniel Carrara, Charlie Chizek, Will Cook, Rebecca  Gotha, Skylar Kerr, Noah Lee, Hailey Mathis, Hannah Moore, Colleen McDevitt, Noemie Metz-Vinez, Annie Nichol, Michelle Nimitz, Meghan O’Neill, Malley Powell, Tom Ridley, Lindsay Smith, Audrey Timberlake, Alyssa Zangara, and Mary Zoran.

The Chelsea cast and crew received the highest scores for the day from the three judges – 95, 95 and 97 out of 100 for their play titled “Firecracker Incident.”

Noah Lee and Colleen McDevitt received Excellence Awards for acting.

The lighting and props students received Superior Awards for their work and the entire cast and crew received Superior Awards for the show ensemble. The props students are Hailey Mathis and Alyssa Zangara and the lighting designer is Daniel Carrara.

The Theater Guild will travel to John Glenn High School in Bay City on Feb.  7 and Chelsea High School will host the MIFA One Act State Finals on Friday, Feb. 13 and Saturday Feb. 14.

This year’s production is being directed by Stephanie Buck who is the stage manager from the Purple Rose Theater.
