Chelsea hockey wins opener 4-2 downing Canton

The Chelsea Varsity Hockey team opened their season with a win against Canton Chiefs, 4-2.

It was a closely contested game, with the first period ending with the Chiefs up 1-0. In the second period, Harrison Green put Chelsea on the board with an assist by Blake Schoof.

Jacob McIntyre assisted by Brendan Thibodeau and Alec Daman, put Chelsea ahead with two minutes left in the 2nd period.

However, Canton came out ready to play and tied it up 4 minutes into the third period. With seven minutes left in the 3rd period, Ben Otto assisted by Green and Brennan Wright put Chelsea ahead. A minute and a half later, Daman, assisted by Sean Cox and Jack Miller, put the game out of reach. The final score – 4-2.

Derek Schaedig was in net for the Bulldogs and had a great game, and an exciting game by two solid teams.

Chelsea takes on Walled Lake at Arctic Coliseum on Friday, Nov. 27 at 7 p.m.
