Chelsea Kiwanis Club Celebrates Elementary School Students

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)

On May 31, the Chelsea Kiwanis Club celebrated our third, fourth, and fifth grade students with the BUG program (Bring Up Grades) at South Meadows Elementary School.

Pupils who raised their grade point average during the year from one grade level to a higher one were awarded special recognition, a certificate, and lunch on the Kiwanis Club. We are excited to highlight those children who have worked hard and shown improvement in their schoolwork.

On June 2, club members helped celebrate the end of the school year at the annual Ice Cream Social at South Meadows, which included fun and games for students and their families at the school.

We were pleased to be able to serve refreshments from our food concession trailer again this year. Proceeds from the event benefit the Chelsea’s PTO.

Monday, we will join the Saline Kiwanis for their superinterclub. Kiwanis Clubs from all over the county meet to compare notes, socialize, enjoy a meal and hear a speaker several times each year.

Normally, the club meeting begins each Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m.

Everyone is invited to the club’s meetings to learn about Kiwanis.
