(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)

The Chelsea Kiwanis Club will hear from Fisher House Michigan Board Member Kathy Hay who will present information about the Fisher House Michigan project and their signature veterans awareness event, Stories of Service: An Evening with Veterans at Hill Auditorium.

Fisher Houses provides military families housing close to a loved one during hospitalization for an illness, disease or injury. A Fisher House in Michigan will mean access to VA healthcare for the 650,000 veterans residents here.

In addition, Tuesday, Oct. 31 is Halloween and Kiwanis will be having a costume judging contest and party at Cole Funeral Home parking lot.

We always enjoy seeing what the kids come up with for Trick or Treating each year. There will be cider, doughnuts, and costume judging beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Chelsea’s suggested Trick or Treating lasts from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The club meeting begins each Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m. Everyone is invited to the club’s meetings to learn about Kiwanis.
