The Chelsea Kiwanis welcomed Rick Boham, president of the Chelsea Community Fair Board to its meeting last week and club members learned about improvements to the entrances to some of the barns, which will make them easier for strollers and wheelchairs to enter.  There will also be electricity installed between the horse barn and the green restrooms so that the carnival won’t have to use their generators.

Club members also heard from Abraham Cone about his Eagle Scout project and sent him to work with some funds to support his efforts.

Last Sunday, the Kiwanis Knackwurst Trailer had a warm up for this summer’s activities when we served up our menu for the annual Ham Radio Swap and Sale at the fairgrounds.  Our trailer is available for local groups to rent for their event when not being used by our club.  The Chelsea Athletic Boosters have been renting the trailer for many years for use at the high school football games. Those interested are welcome to work with our club members during one of our events to see how much fun/work it is.

On Monday, Marty Sheedy, executive director, Project Scissor Gait Foundation will be the speaker. The foundation provides medical equipment and scholarships to persons afflicted with Arthogryposis Multiplex Congenita, a condition that results in children being born with fixed or curved joints, allowing for limited or no range of motion.

The meeting begins at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy-Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m.  Everyone is invited to the meetings to learn about Kiwanis.
