Chelsea wrestling qualified six for the regionals this year.
Qualifying for Chelsea were:
- Jacob Jacobusse 1st at 103
- Corbyn Munson 1st at 125
- Nickolas Matusko 2nd at 125
- Michael Barnes 4th at 135
- Gus Reynolds 2nd at 160
- Reed Aldrich 4th at 189
“There were lots of exciting matches and many heart breaks,” said coach Adam French, who added, “The most exciting match for us was Reed Aldrich’s consolation semi-finals to qualify for regionals.”
His opponent was Nick Brandt who had a record of 36-8 and pinned Reed previously this year. With 30 seconds left, Reed was down 4 points, but instead of giving up he threw Brandt to his back and pinned him with 10 seconds left, French said.
Last year, Chelsea had three qualifiers so this year’s six qualifiers is a huge improvement.
