Chelsea softball bats remain hot; pitching solid

On Monday, April 24, the Chelsea softball team traveled to Tecumseh High School for a double header against the Indians. 

In game 1 – which was an offensive slugfest – the Lady Bulldogs prevailed beating Tecumseh, 16-12.

The two teams combined for 33 hits and 5 home runs in the contest. Chelsea was led by Maddie Kemp who went 5-for-5 in the game, driving in 3 RBI’s and hitting her first career home run.

Sydney Hines went 3-for-5 on the day driving in 2, while Alise Hale went 3-for-6 at the plate driving in 3 RBI’s and hitting her 3rd home run of the season.

Maddie Vasquez, who went 2-for-5 in the game, hit a grand slam homerun in the 5th inning, which was her 4th home run of the season. The Bulldogs scattered 22 hits in game one, while Maddie Kemp was credited with the win, her 7th of the season.  

In Game 2, the Lady Bulldogs continued their hot hitting, scattering 14 hits in 5 innings beating Tecumseh in the nightcap 11-2.

Peighton Root led Chelsea going 3-for-4 at the plate with 3 RBI’s.

Maddie Kemp continued to hit well in game 2, going 2-for-3 at the plate, while earning her 8th pitching win of the season.

Alise Hale (2-for-3), Maddie Vasquez (2-for-4) and Sydnee Liedel (2-for-4) had multiple hits in the game.

Grace Bush (2) and Sydney Hines (3) both had multiple RBI’s in the contest. 

On Friday, April 27, there will be a home doubleheader verses Ypsilanti High School beginning at 4 p.m. and on Saturday, April 28, there will be a round robin tournament (3 games) with Plymouth Salem, Carlson and Jackson High Schools starting at 10 a.m. at the Chelsea Softball Complex.
