(Chelsea Update is running a series on businesses (and non-profits) in Chelsea beginning with businesses that belong to the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce.).

The Chelsea Chamber Players is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and a member of the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce.

There are five main musicians – Sara Cumming, Ian Cumming, Nathan Peters, Paula Elliott and Jed Fritzemeier – who team up to provide live music concerts as well as educational workshops in schools and music camps.

The Chelsea Chamber Players is run by volunteers who are responsible for concert planning, publicity, venue setup and fundraising.

The first concert series was in September 2000 when the Chamber Players made an agreement with the Chelsea Depot Association that made the renovated historic railway depot a home for the players at no charge.

“We all like performing in the Chelsea Depot,” said Sara Cumming, president of the Chelsea Chamber Players. “It has super acoustics and we have a loyal following in Chelsea. Our three concerts a years are open to everyone with free admission!”

“We join forces in December with the Chelsea High School Choir and the Methodist Church and have two performances at the church on Dec. 4 at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.,” said Cumming. “In March, we premiere a commissioned piece by Chelsea composer Brian Brill for our family concert.— Stormy: A Cinderella Story 3 p.m., March 19.”
