Chelsea varsity lacrosse team goes 2-1 last week

Below is a recap of last week’s action in lacrosse after returning from Spring Break:

On Wednesday, April 15, the varsity Lacrosse Team traveled to Ypsilanti-Lincoln.  At the end of the first quarter, Chelsea led 2-0 and at half time the score was 4-1 in favor of the Bulldogs. The third quarter, Chelsea would add 4 more goals to pull away from Ypsilanti-Lincoln and add 2 more goals in the fourth quarter for a 10 to 1 victory over Ypsilanti-Lincoln.

Jonah Bogarin lead the night with 3 goals and 2 assists, Ryan O’Quinn had 2 goals and an assist while Chris Xenakis also had 2 goals. Maclain Stedman, Jack Miller, and Devon Conti would all add a goal each while Ethan French had an assist.  Josh Ciaccio made seven saves on the night in goal.

On Thursday, April 16, the team hosted Whitmore Lake in a 26-6 win for the Bulldogs. Jonah Bogarin lead the scoring with 8 goals while Ryan Hein added 4 goals.  Chris Xenakis and Jack Miller would each add 2 goals on the night.  Ethan French, Sean Cox, Ryan O’Quinn, Maclain Steadman, Devon Conti, Jake Perry, and Jack Handcock would each add 1 goal.  Defensemen Dominick Goderis, Zach Trester, and Alonzo Taylor would also add 1 goal each on the night. Josh Ciaccio was in goal with seven saves on the night.

On Friday, April 17, Chelsea traveled to Tecumseh for an SEC White division showdown.  The battle would be won by Tecumseh late in the 4th quarter 13 to 11.  Tecumseh got out to an early 2 goal lead before Defenseman Dominick Goderis would put the Bulldogs on the board.  From there, the teams would trade blows all game long and with 3:30 left in the 4th quarter Chelsea was gaining momentum and Jonah Bogarin would bring the Bulldogs to within 1 goal.  The Indians would score with under 2 minutes in the game to give them the 2-goal victory and take the lead in the SEC White division race.

Jonah Bogarin lead the scoring with 4 goals and 2 assists, Ethan French added 2 goals, and Jack Miller had 1 goal and 1 assist. Devon Conti, Jake Perry, Sean Cox, and Dominick Goderis would all add 1 goal each while Chris Xenakis and Ryan Hein each had an assist.
