The 28th annual Chelsea/Dexter CROP Hunger Walk took place on Sunday Oct. 4 in Dexter.

It was the first time in Dexter and was quite successful and included 50 walkers from the Dexter United Methodist Church.

There were 125 walkers, a  50-percent increase compared to last year, and there were 16 participating organizations, which is a 33-percent increase over last year. The exact total of money raised is still uncertain but it is expected to be about $20,000, which is $1,000 more than last year.

The weather was overcast and cool, but it was good for walking. Walking in Dexter involves more hills than in Chelsea, but its shaded, residential streets and the trail along the river were very pretty.
