SRSLY is gearing up for its eighth annual New Year’s Eve party – and invites you to come join the fun.

More than 2,300 people have attended the SRSLY New Year’s Eve Party over the past seven years. This year’s family-friendly event promises to be bigger and better than ever, as SRSLY has a great line-up of games, prizes, and live performances.

The SRSLY New Year’s Eve Party will take place on Thursday, Dec. 31, from 4-8 p.m., at Beach Middle School. The event is free and open to the public, including families from neighboring communities, or visitors from out of town.

SRSLY is seeking volunteers to help out for an hour during the event. To sign up to volunteer visit the event’s Volunteer Spot http://vols.pt/3dLzkY, or for more information go to www.srslychelsea.org.

Coalition members are planning games and activities that will appeal to all ages, including team games and competitions (eating contests, relay races, card games and more), face painting, video games on classroom Smart Boards, cookie-decorating, a magician, swimming, basketball, volleyball, indoor soccer, and a chili cook-off.

The first ten entrants in the chili cook-off will receive a $10 gift card to Polly’s Country Market to purchase supplies. To sign up for the chili cook-off, contact Dan Marthey at [email protected] or call 734-593-6269.

The swimming pool will be open from 5-7 p.m., so don’t forget your bathing suits.

Door prizes awarded every hour will include gift certificates to local restaurants and businesses, board games, Jiffy mixes, and free passes to bowling. Pizza, pop, and other refreshments will be available for a suggested donation of $1 per item.

The party is sponsored by Chelsea Rotary Club, Meijer, Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea Orthodontics, Chelsea Wellness Center, Jet’s Pizza, Vogel’s and Foster’s, Biggby Coffee, Gigi’s Flower Shop, Chelsea Lanes, Jack and Sons’ Barber Shop, Gary’s Reed Barbering, Chelsea Milling Company, and Mike’s Deli.

Additional organizations that would like to support the event can do so by donating prizes, refreshments, supplies for activities, or financial gifts to cover the cost of the event.

“Our New Year’s Eve party is a great example of the community coming together to support fun and safe events for the whole family to enjoy,” said Jesse Kauffman, SRSLY director.
