Electric department working on power problems

As of 4:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 3, the Chelsea Electric Department is working on power outages and power surges in an area that includes the Fairways Subdivision to the railroad tracks.

According to the city’s power outage hot line (475-1771, press 2); the electric department is working on the problem three to four blocks at a time to isolate the cause.

Intermittent outages will continue while the crews work on the problem and there is no estimated time for power restoration, according to the hotline.

Residents are asked to check with the hotline for updates.

On a Facebook post, the Chelsea District Library closed for the day about 4 p.m.

Here’s the post: “LIBRARY CLOSED | Due to intermittent power outages, the library is closed. Please call the library tomorrow (Aug. 4) for updates. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
