Feb. 1: Kiwanis to hear from Melissa Goodson of the Alzheimer’s Association

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)

Kiwanis has been serving Chelsea for the last 92 years, and has always enjoyed tremendous support from folks in the area at our food concession trailer, during our annual fruit sale, and at our peanut day.

With this support, the club has distributed over $50,000 back to the community each year in both monetary and hands-on service. Our members receive great satisfaction from voluntarily providing this service each year. We welcome those individuals and groups who believe this is an efficient and productive way to help folks in the area, especially Chelsea’s children, our club’s prime focus.

Without this support, groups would have to find resources elsewhere, or do without.

This Monday, our speaker will be Melissa Goodson from the Alzheimer’s Association. Their mission is to eliminate the disease by advancing research, enhancing care and support for those affected, and reducing risk of dementia through promoting brain health.

You can learn more every second Wednesday at Silver Maples, (Feb. 10) from 11 a.m. – noon. Call 800-272-3900 to register. Also at Chelsea Retirement Community, Towsley Village Multipurpose Room, (Feb. 25 and March 3), noon – 1:30 p.m. Call 475-9640 to register.

The meeting begins each week at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy-Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m.

Everyone is invited to the meetings to learn about Kiwanis and click www.kiwanisclubofchelsea.org for more information.
