Winners of the Golden Plate award at last year’s event, Material Girls and their table theme “Let There Be Peace on Earth”

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Trinh Pifer for the information and photos in this story.)

Add a colorful spark this winter and join the Chelsea Senior Center for the sixth annual Festival of Tables on Saturday, Feb. 25.

This popular event will satisfy your imagination and your appetite. Admission fee is $20 and includes a delicious lunch and a chance to vote for your favorite table.  Of course, as a fundraiser, additional voting tickets may be purchased to “stuff the ballot box”.

Doors will open at 11 a.m. for viewing and voting on the different themed tables, with lunch served at noon. New this year, there will be a Friday evening preview from 6-8 p.m. for those unable to attend on Saturday.

By popular request, you can get an early preview and a head start on voting Friday evening for only $1.

Reservations for the Friday preview and Saturday event are available starting Jan. 9 at the Chelsea Senior Center. Be sure to purchase your admission early because this annual event sells out.

This community event is a FUNdraiser to support the Chelsea Senior Center, but it’s an event enjoyed by all ages. Various local groups, businesses, and residents will once again decorate tables with unique themes.

The lineup for this year includes fun themes such as “Snoopy and Peanuts Gang”,  “Wines on Main Street”,  “Appetite for Knowledge”, and “Chelsea Sounds and Sights” to name a few. Among those represented this year will be the Chelsea District Library, Garden Mill, United Methodist Retirement Communities, Robin Hills Farm, Material Girls, Adult Learners Institute, Chelsea Artists Guild, St. Mary Bible Study Group, Mothers of Preschoolers, and Cherry Optometry.

According to Sharon Pignanelli, chairperson of this annual event, “We have another diverse lineup of themes and organizations participating. It’s really wonderful to see everybody tap into their creativity and put on some amazing displays.”

The event this year will be held at St. Mary Church located at 14200 E. Old US 12.
