Flags lowered to half-staff for Neil Armstrong until sunset Aug. 31

(The presidential order was issued on Aug. 27, but notification was sent from the state on Aug. 30.)

President Barak Obama ordered the flag of the United States lowered to half-staff until sunset on Friday, Aug. 31, to honor the memory of astronaut Neil Armstrong.

“With one small step, Neil Armstrong touched the lives of people across our country and the globe, inspiring citizens of all ages by transforming what was once only imagined into reality. His legacy of service, remarkable vision and innovative spirit will never be forgotten. My thoughts are with his entire family during this time,” said Gov. Rick Snyder, in a press release.
