The Chelsea freshman football team lost its opening game at Grand Rapids Northview on Aug. 26 by a score of 47-21.

Quinn Starkey threw for 250 yards and 3 touchdowns. Hunter Neff had over 150 receiving yards and a touchdown catch. Dane Zorn and Russell Timmerman also had touchdown receptions.

Defensively, Dion Mite and Nick Christian each had a sack and five tackles. Up front, Holden Monica and Nick Brough blocked well against a big and athletic Northview team.

“We didn’t come out very aggressive and Northview is an extremely physical freshman team, and our kids have not learned to play with intensity yet,” said Coach Dennis Strzyzewski.

“I thought we showed signs of what we can be,” he said, “Our kids will learn from this and continue to improve.”
