Jet’s Pizza owners Jason Povlich and Jason Bendinelli will host a fundraiser throughout the month of January to support SRSLY youth volunteers.

Every Wednesday at Jet’s (dine-in only), a portion of proceeds will be donated to SRSLY. This fundraiser will help youth volunteers attend a substance abuse prevention conference in July.

“At Jet’s Pizza and Back to the Roots, we believe in doing business for purpose,” said Povlich. “Life is more than just money. Life is enjoying creation and community.”

Youth and adult volunteers in SRSLY will travel to Orlando in July to meet and learn from prevention leaders from across the country at the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) Mid-Year Training Institute.

This is the third year that SRSLY members have participated in this national conference.

“During my time at CADCA last year, I learned many creative ideas to keep teens away from using any type of drug,” said Ananth Ghosh, 9th grade student and president of the SRSLY Youth Steering Committee (YSC) in a press release. “I look forward to CADCA this year to see what helpful tips they have to provide to help SRSLY achieve our plan, and newer, greater ideas to plan here back in Chelsea.”

“I look forward to meeting more groups that are striving for the same goal as our group,” said Sam Jabara, 11th grade student and member of the SRSLY YSC in a press release.

The Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) Mid-Year Training Institute brings together youth and adults working to prevent substance abuse in their communities. Over the course of five days, SRSLY members will learn about evidence-based prevention strategies, the latest science and research, and effective coalition-building tools. They will also meet and network with their peers from around the country, including hundreds of youth coalition members and leaders.

Funds raised at Jet’s Pizza will help cover the cost of conference registration and travel.

“The Mid-Year Training Institute is a great opportunity for our members to network with their peers from across the country,” said SRSLY Director Reiley Curran. “Everyone at this conference is working on preventing youth substance abuse in their local communities. We can learn a lot from each other, and it’s a chance for SRSLY members to share their success stories.”
