Hometown Holiday Material Girls Christmas Bazaar to feature more than 4,000 gifts

Christmas-Bazaar(Chelsea Update would like to thank Barbara Brown for the information in this story.)

The Material Girls Childrens Christmas Bazaar will take place on Saturday, Dec. 5 during Chelsea’s Hometown Holidays. Held at Chelsea First United Methodist Church, the bazaar is open to children ages 4 years old through the sixth grade. Note: Adults coming to the bazaar must be accompanied by a child. (Note, shopping spaces were determined by a sign-up.)

All 4,000 items for sale were handcrafted by members of the Material Girls and local artisans and sell for $1-$5. The children will enjoy the excitement of purchasing and wrapping gifts and keeping their gifts a surprise until Christmas, while learning that meaningful gifts don’t need to cost a lot of money.

Upon arrival, parents will complete shopping envelopes so their children know whom to shop for and how much they can spend. Youth from the community will help the children select, wrap, and pay for their gifts. Space is limited, and appointments are required.

Something new this year: While their children are shopping, parents will have the opportunity to shop themselves. In Grams Hall, there will be a Bake Sale featuring scones, biscotti, and shortbread cookies. The new “Parent Corner” will have hand-crafted gifts for sale.

Profits from the bazaar will be given to Faith in Action.
