The Chelsea Girls Golf Team had a good match with Tecumseh on Monday, Aug. 31 at Tecumseh Country Club.

“We were very competitive matching three scores, but their No. 1 player shot very well, and the difference between her score and our 4th score,  proved to be the difference in the match,” said coach Joe Ewald.

Tecumseh won the match, 209 to 227.

Scoring for Chelsea were Mackenzie Benning with a 54, followed by Rose Sanville with a 55, Maddie Vasques had a 56, and Maggie Duve shot a 62.

On Wednesday, Sept. 2, the Lady Bulldogs hosted the Adrian Maples, on a very hot and humid day at Reddeman Farms Golf Course.

To say the match didn’t go as planned, would be an understatement, the coach said.

“We had to pull two players off the course, due the effects of the heat. Another player made an unfortunate error, incorrectly taking a drop, and causing a disqualification,” Ewald said.

Chelsea was left with only three varsity scores, which is an automatic forfeit.

On the bright side, we had two girls shoot their best round of the season, as Mackenzie Benning shot a 45, and Katelyn McKinley had a 50, the coach said.

Julia VanReesema also played very well, for her first varsity contest, shooting a 61.
