Chelsea House Orchestra’s (CHO) much anticipated annual Hometown Show will take place on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. at Chelsea House High School.

This high energy show draws fans from southeastern Michigan, giving local audiences a chance to see why CHO has been in such high demand at events and festivals around the country for the past 20 years.

With an opening from the talented Beach Middle School Fiddle Club, CHO’s “Celtic with a kick” performances feature lively Scottish and Irish traditions and Celtic renditions of American folk songs, with a little Hungarian-inspired music and rock and roll thrown in just for fun.

Tickets for the Hometown Show are $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors. They can be purchased at the door, Chelsea Pharmacy, or you can send an email to [email protected].

Shirts and CDs will also be available for purchase at the event.

“This is one of the highlights for the community each year, and one of the players’ favorite performances,” said Stefanie Dever, publicity chair for Chelsea House Orchestra. “When CHO travels from state to state during their performance season, the feedback and buzz at each of these places is incredible. The kids love to be able to share that energy in front of their hometown crowd.”

Using traditional stringed instruments, including violins, cellos, and bass, plus wind instruments like clarinets and flutes, as well as lesser known instruments such as the djembe and cajon, CHO’s music is lively and rich with history.

Chelsea House Orchestra has performed in Chicago, Ohio, Indiana, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, at Celtic-based events, huge festivals drawing thousands, private fundraisers, and for dignitaries from the U.S., Canada and Scotland.

Some of CHO’s upcoming season’s highlights include performing in Grand Haven, Mich., at the Grand Haven Irish Fest in March, performing as returning favorites at the Alma Highland Games in May.

In July, CHO will be traveling internationally. The group has the honor of being invited to play at the Stirling Bridge International Youth Arts Festival in Stirling, Scotland in July 2016. This is an amazing opportunity for everyone involved, and an honor to show off the talent and hard work that can come from a small town in Michigan.
