Bank of Ann Arbor (BOAA) recently announced the hiring of Janice Ortbring as a new vice president, marketing manager.

Ortbring brings more than 20 years of expertise to the bank with the last 13 as the co-owner and creative director for Edgar Norman Creative. Under her leadership, Ortbring will run the advertising, marketing, press and social media for BOAA. She will also be a key member of the planning and production team for the popular ‘Bank of Ann Arbor’s Sonic Lunch concert series’ in downtown Ann Arbor.

“I have been asked, a lot, why I left my full-service agency to work at a bank. I can tell you that I made the correct decision. Bank of Ann Arbor is so much more than a bank. BOAA is an amazing community leader for both banking and community support. It’s a business with strong core values that I can get behind.”

“We are excited to bring Janice on to our team,” said Tim Marshall, president and CEO of Bank of Ann Arbor. “Her experience, success, and community involvement are what made her the right fit for taking on the leadership role in our marketing area. The bank prides itself on creative approaches in communicating with our customers and community members and Janice will help us take it to the next level as we continue to grow.”

A graduate of the acclaimed College for Creative Studies in Detroit, she has worked with a diverse range of clients from Disney, Hasbro, Princess Cruises, and SegaSoft to a lengthy list of local Michigan clients. Ortbring was named one of Business Weekly’s “30 Most Influential Women” with credits for work in the field of branding, advertising, marketing, and leadership.

In addition to her advertising and marketing career, Ortbring served on the Chelsea Village Council for two consecutive terms and, subsequent to the council, was elected for one term as a Charter Commissioner to work with eight other commissioners to write the new City Charter for Chelsea, which was successfully approved.

She is also very active in giving back to the community and has volunteered her time, resources, and talent in a number of capacities at more than 25 nonprofit organizations. For example, she was one of the founding members of Chelsea’s diversity group One World, One Family Task Force and has served on several boards and worked with various community groups including a farm to table breakfast club called Yellow Door.

Ortbring lives in Chelsea with her husband, Todd, and son, Grant. Their older son, Blake, attends Eastern Michigan University.
