July 25: Steven McCarty to speak to Chelsea Kiwanis

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)

Chelsea Kiwanis Club members who worked in the Kiwanis food concession trailer for the Ironclad Vintage Base Ball Festival last Saturday commented that it was a wonderful family event. Everyone had a great time, from players, spectators to our workers in the trailer. The weather was perfect.

A special thank you goes to the Chelsea School District employees who graciously provided us with water and electricity and helped us set up.

This Monday, the club will hear from Steven McCarty, governor of the Michigan District of Circle K International (9+ clubs). He is a junior at the University of Michigan studying Communication Studies and Political Science.

McCarty will speak about his recent trip to the Kiwanis and Circle K International Convention in Toronto where he was elected International Vice President for the upcoming year. He will help lead the over 13,000 member organization consisting of more than 500 clubs in 17 countries.

Circle K International is the largest collegiate service organization, combining community service, leadership training, and the opportunity to meet college students from around the world.

The club meeting begins each Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy-Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m.

Everyone is invited to the club’s meetings to learn about Kiwanis.
