July 31: Chelsea Kiwanis to Hear from Lisa Nickel

(Chelsea Update would like to thank Bob Milbrodt for the information in this story.)

This Monday, Lisa Nickel, director of Special Education and Early Childhood for the Chelsea School District will speak to the Chelsea Kiwanis Club.

Nickel will talk about the preschool program available to area youngsters.  Kiwanis provides funds to assist those families in need so their children may attend.

Last week, Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Monica Monsma spoke to the club about the many avenues that the chamber is involved with to folks to visit Chelsea. Among them are the Smoke and Ale Festival, which will be a sanctioned BBQ competition this year, Citizen of the Year and Lifetime Achievement Awards, the car raffle, Sounds and Sights on Thursday Nights and the Sounds and Sights Festival, the Big 400, Hometown Holiday, the annual golf outing and a new opportunity to design a welcome sign for the city.
The club meeting begins each Monday at 6:15 p.m. in the St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea Hospital cafeteria, and the speakers begin at about 6:45 p.m. Everyone is invited to the club’s meetings to learn about Kiwanis.
